Puerto Rico Disaster Relief

There have been so many people reaching out and offering help since Maria hit Puerto Rico.  We sincerely appreciate all of your efforts.  This page is specifically to help channel hurricane disaster relief from mainland US, and to help people who are giving keep track of what is happening to what they send.  If you are looking to send things, here are our most updated needs.  We no longer are prioritizing shelf stable food as it is widely available in stores here, and that is also what FEMA and all of the other relief organizations work on.  People need fresh food.

Ball canning jars – we are now able to get into some food production and distribution, but can’t get canning jars anywhere.

Sprouting Trays – we have three sets – a total of six trays, but we could seriously use more.

Solar lights – while lights are coming on in downtown areas, much of the island is still months away from light.  For families with kids who can’t sleep in the dark, elderly people who need to find the bathroom in the night, a little solar light can make a huge difference.

Water filters – I think that the affordable, easy to ship, and still highly effective ones are Sawyer.  Life straws are cool, but impractical for the amount of water that actually needs to be filtered.

We’ll be updating this soon.. again, we are lucky we even got the site online with the state of the internet here right now.
